Natural Wood Mantel

Description

A hand-finished cast concrete shelf mantel modeled on reclaimed barn timber, with the grain, checks and saw marks of the original wood reproduced in the surface. It is the brand’s core wood-look profile at 5-1/4 inches tall and 8 inches deep, offered in 4, 5 and 6 foot lengths. Because the material is non-combustible, the site positions it for installation closer to and lower over the firebox than a real wood beam would allow.

7 standard colors: Brown, Silver, Graphite, WhiteWash, Ebony, Espresso, Wheat; custom colors available. Material: patented lightweight concrete, artistically hand finished. Non-combustible per the manufacturer. Clearance per Magra Hearth’s mantel mounting instructions (PDF) (measured from top of glass/opening to bottom of mantel, unless the fireplace manufacturer specifies differently): ‘Under 50,000 BTU’s – 6″‘; ‘Over 50,000 BTU’s – 12″‘. Mounting: included steel bracket screwed to wall studs (3 studs for a 5′ mantel, 4 studs for a 6’), two-person lift recommended.

About the maker

Magra Hearth — a Wisconsin maker of lightweight cast-concrete mantels, hearths and boards that look like reclaimed timber or chiseled stone but are non-combustible (ASTM E136), so they can sit closer to the fire than wood. Every piece is hand finished, so no two are exactly alike.
