A screen keeps sparks in and lets the fire show. If your fireplace burns wood, or you simply like the look of an open hearth, a free-standing screen or a fitted spark guard is the simplest upgrade there is: no installation and no permit.
The screens below are made in the USA by Design Specialties and Ironhaus, in custom sizes and several finishes. Bring the width and height of your opening, or a photo, to our Downers Grove showroom and we will size it for you. A mesh curtain or a pair of operable doors can be made to suit an arched or oversized opening.

Free-standing screens — a single panel or a tri-fold that stands in front of the hearth; lift it aside to tend the fire.
Spark guards and mesh curtains — fitted to the opening, so they stay put; the curtain draws like a drape.
Glass screens — a clear panel that keeps the room’s air where it belongs while the fire burns down.

Want it sealed rather than screened? See our custom fireplace doors, or ask for an estimate and we will tell you which suits your fireplace.
