Questions
What people ask us about these photos.
Plain answers. Anything else — call, write, or book a visit.
Are these photos of your own work?
Three kinds of photo are here, and each one says which it is. "Our work" is a fireplace, insert or gas log set in a customer’s home. "Showroom" is one of the displays in our Downers Grove store. "Looks we sell" are photographs from the makers we carry, used with their permission, so you can see a style at its best before you see it on our floor.
Can I see these fireplaces in person?
Most of them, or something close. The showroom at 1202-B 75th Street in Downers Grove has gas, wood and electric fireplaces, inserts, stoves, gas logs, doors and mantels on display from 19 brands, and the electric models are lit so you can judge the flame. Bring a photo of your room and we will walk you to the displays that fit it.
I like one of these. How do I get it?
Open the photo and tap "Ask about this look" — the request goes to us with a link to the exact picture — or book a showroom visit. Either way we come back with what it is, what it would take in your home, and a written estimate after we have measured.
Can you add a fireplace where there is none?
Yes. A direct-vent gas fireplace vents through the wall or roof, so it does not need a chimney; an electric fireplace needs only an outlet. We plan the venting, the framing and the finish around it, and our own installers do the work.
Can the television go above the fireplace?
Often, with the right pieces. A non-combustible mantel or shelf shields the wall above the fire, and some fireplaces are built for a lower TV. The fireplace’s manual sets the clearance and the TV maker sets a temperature limit; we measure and advise before you buy the bracket.
How long does an installation take?
A gas insert or a log set into an existing fireplace is usually a one-day job. A new fireplace with framing, venting and a finished wall takes longer and is scheduled with the other trades. You get the timeline with the estimate, and the same team sees it through.
