A Fireplace Store and More is a full-service fireplace contractor for Chicago and the western suburbs. Showroom, design, installation, venting, gas work and service under one roof — carried out by our own crew, with a small, hand-picked network of trades when a job calls for one.
Planning a project? A free in-home visit tells you what the room can take before you commit to anything.
What a fireplace contractor should actually handle
Most fireplace projects fail at the seams between trades: the appliance arrives but the framing is wrong, the venting was never planned, or the gas line is undersized and nobody notices until start-up. We take responsibility for the whole sequence.
Design & specification
Appliance selection against your actual room, framing and venting path — not a brochure guess.
Gas & venting
Gas supply and line sizing, direct-vent and chimney venting, clearance to combustibles.
Build & finish
Framing, hearth and surround construction, finished around the appliance rather than bodged to fit.
Permits & commissioning
Permitting, inspection, start-up and ongoing service. We file the paperwork.
What we do
Fireplace design and installation for gas, wood and electric. Chimney installation and repair, including liners and masonry. Fireplace maintenance and repair on most major brands. And custom fireplace builds where the wall is designed around the fire. By type: gas and electric.
What the work costs
We price fireplace work the way a good general contractor prices anything: scoped in person, written down once, and held. What moves the number is the same on every job: the unit, the venting path, the gas or electrical scope, structural work and finish. The written quote you sign is the price for that scope; a concealed condition or a change you ask for is written up as a change order before any extra work starts.
The in-home estimate is free, and the quote covers the complete scope with permits included, fixed before anyone starts work.
Our own crew, and we pull the permits
Every installation is carried out by our own employees. We do not subcontract, which is why the person who fits your fireplace is the person who comes back if it ever needs attention. Permitting is handled by us — new gas lines, venting penetrations and structural framing are permitted work in most DuPage municipalities, and we file it rather than leaving it to you.
Why a dealer-contractor beats a general contractor
A general contractor will happily build the wall. What they will not do is tell you the unit you picked cannot vent where you want it, or that the model is discontinued and parts will be unavailable in four years. Because we are a dealer for Lopi, Majestic, Travis Industries, Kozy Heat and DaVinci, warranty work and parts come through the manufacturer. Browse the catalog.

Frequently asked questions
Do you subcontract installation?
No. Every installation is done by our own employees.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. New gas lines, venting penetrations and structural framing are permitted work in most DuPage municipalities, and we file it as part of the job.
Do you service fireplaces you did not install?
Yes, across most major brands. Parts availability for discontinued models is the only real limit.
How quickly can you come out?
In-home estimates are usually within the week. Service calls from November through January run longer, so book maintenance before the season.
